  1. it is in fact now down to here in spain a lot of eatern europeans who i dare say and most know dont really look after there birds. the reason i say this is they breed and breed and breed simply because they think they wil win in numbers and one person like a derby or olr race cannot look after that many pigeons and be so sure they are healthy simply impossible thi8s alone has changed the way races are hed mixing up birds in different baskets with sick ones it should be illegal our club does not even have a vet on hand to say no you cannot admit those birds simply by looking at green dropping in there care or holding them in bad condition it should be forced to do this stoping the numbers of birds being lost here in spain there should be control but hay they still kill buls rip heads of geese and spear animals for fun its a barbaric sick place with a lack of education towards animals not al i admit but a good majority

  2. Where I live there are a lot of Spanish which is help save the pigeon racing sport here as the older gentleman are dying off you do not see a lot of young Caucasians getting involved

  3. The first set of pigeons I bought to train died all. Now I don’t know where to start and where to begin. I don’t know male and female pigeons. I like the birds, I want to farm them but I don’t know how to start it .Please I need help.

  4. I love Flying & training my birds, But the one loft races & money it cost for food & STUFF, why would a young kid want to do this? And as far as flying with a club if you are not on the 1st sheet every week it is not much fun !

    1. william just keep pushing through buidl your team bread your fastets birds together mate iot takes time it wil come train for your line not theres nmate look at flight lines take a more direct training level to your loft keep pushing through good luck here for any advice

  5. In todays day and age content or hobbies find you, you dont find them. I am in my 3rd year racing and it is because I saw the hobby on youtube. The more this content is online the more it will find hobyists. The old timers will not save the hobby, its the youngesters with youtube chanels that will.

  6. I truly believe that slowly, it is becoming a dying hobby UNLESS we do something about. I say this because, we continue to have the sport as we still have the pioneers and their children continuing the hobby but the increase in participants is not much. Why did I say that? Is it because, what was once a hobby is now a business to some and that drives aways newcomers to be involved in the hobby. When they are offered birds, some breeder thinks their birds lays a golden egg. We have to accept the fact that we need new members, members who will continue the hobby aside from those who is in to the hobby because of their parents or grandparents. Let them come to our nest, nurture them by showing the true purpose of the hobby. Let’s also provide the true contents of the pedigree. I know breeding a champion to another champion will breed another champion…. training, diet and their loft still counts. It is always 50-50 between birds and breeders. No matter how good your birds are if you as breeder will not do your part right. Your bird will not win.

  7. In my area – 2 clubs – it is definatly growing. The reason is immigrants. Both clubs have several new or recently new members from other countries, many with experience and some new to the hobby. All are welcome and have proven to be a positive addition to their respective clubs

  8. It really depends WHERE in the world you are talking about.
In the UK – the sport is on a decline in the way it has been done for many years – but the One Loft Racing is growing in popularity.
In the far East – the sport is growing but mainly that is to do with gambling! The Chinese and Taiwanese love to bet on ANYTHING including pigeon racing.
In England where I live – we need to get more younger peole involved in keeping and racing pigeons the traditional way. But HOW? Quality pigeons have gotten far too expensive for the normal working man to buy – there is NO WAY a baby racing pigeon of 25 to 35 days old is worth any more than £30.00 or $42, let alone a 9 month old pigeon being worth a million dollars or more. There are too many people selling their pigeons at very high prices, prices that the pigeons are just NOT worth paying. The more that people sell worthless pigeons for very high prices, the longer it will take to get any new people interested in starting with racing pigeons. Also pedigrees – there is no way you can make sure the pigeon you buy is the exact same bird as is on the pedigree, unless you pay for a blood test, and most people will not pay for a blood test for most birds. A pedigree can be just a piece of paper with lots of lies written on it – worthless!!
Bring things back to how they were – young people getting interested in racing pigeons, being helped by those who are already good at the sport and pigeons being sold for realistic prices, is the way forward in my opinion.

    1. I think the the problem is Top fanciers don’t like educating new beginners about the sport and keeping tips and tricks to themselves and not taking beginners under their wing to teach them every about sport !!! They should give or sell good birds for affordable prices to young beginners such as young children who are interested in flying and breeding their own birds . Especially if they can’t afford good birds to start with !!! Also clubs should make it almost free to fly if you are under 16 years old and get a club badge and help to start off your own team as a junior flyer . We all over the world should make meds and vitamins and food more affordable so more younger who want to fly but can’t afford it cheaper so more people will be able join clubs and race birds. We also should promote the sport more by making more exciting especially for children and stop people seeing pigeons as just flying rats and rather have a passion for the sport.
