    1. Hey Rene, Thanks for posting your comments, you have some great questions and I have noted all of them, so please stay tuned and thanks again for your participation.

    2. Rene,

If by fly away you mean pigeons that are leaving the loft and not coming back. There is only one cause. Over crowding. To many pigeons in a small space. You need more room per bird. All pigeons fly at the same speed. There are no fast pigeons. What happens in a race is the pigeons that are not in perfect shape and form for that particular distance slow down. For the first hour most pigeons should be able to stay together. After that depends on their health, and how well you prepared them for that distance. The longer the distance the more fat you need to give them. This is the energy they fly on. If they have the right amount of energy for that distance they will be able to maintain their speed. If they don’t have enough they will slow down. If they have to much. They will be to heavy for that race and slow down. Also motivation to come straight home is needed.

  5. 1. What is the right treatment to the pigeon before and after the race?
    2. What is the right feed, before and after the Race?
    3. What is the right medication before, during ang after race?

  6. Hi Chris, Pigeon Insider is such a great site. Thanks for your efforts and for planning to even improve on it. I am learning a lot from you and the members.
    1. Please include a daily program on feeding and medication during the race. While I have one for it, I would like to improve on it.
    2. My frustration is on predators that abound here in Canada, clubs that are very far between and pigeon supply stores. I raced for more than 20 years in Manila, Philppines where clubs and membrrrs were numerous and pigeon supply stores are always a few blocks away. Sorry, it’s not within your influence..Lol!
    3. For me, the most important thing to become successful is to have an excellent foundation birds, selective linebreeding/inbreeding, a well ventilated loft, rigid training and acquiring/maintaining the best health in the birds. Any article that touches on them will be a great help for me.

    2. Tommy,

On predator attacks I found that if I put a electrical pipe TP or Tripod in front of my trapping entrance that the predators stopped attacking. Since most of my losses were at the landing board placing an obstacle in front of their line of attack made it so they couldn’t attack the landing board area. The pigeons have no problem landing or going around the Tripod, but it messes up the line of attack for the predator and they give up and go elsewhere. Place the Tripod in line with the direction of the attacks. The Tripod should be about 4 or 5 feet higher than the entrance so that it blocks the line of attack.
