*Video* Health Tip Adding Garlic to Your Birds Drinking Water.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7rJNy6qlI4]

Here is another great video from Dennis of hawkbait lofts, he shows how he adds garlic to his birds drinking water once per week. He simply takes 4 cloves of ordinary garlic and removes the skin then pokes holes in them ad adds them to one gallon of drinking water. The garlic helps to purify the pigeons blood if you notice your pigeons nose is getting grey the garlic will help turn it back to healthy chalky white, it helps with curculation helping the viens to open and the blood to flow. The garlic also helps in the birds intestinal tract you should also notice that their droppings become firmer.

  1. One of the oldes tricks/remedies in the book. I remember the old man actually cutting it up and giving it to the birds directly.

    I crush it and put it in the water once a week.

    Another good thing is Elderberry syrup in the water.

    Great stuff keep up the good work.

      1. Hi Chris

  3. Hi.
    I have always used garlic in my birds water, but instead of pricking holes in it i slightly crush it and then put into 1gall of fresh water, leaving it for a day before giving it to the birds in their drinkers. The garlic helps to rid the birds body of all the nasties, and to purify the blood, you will see a difference in your birds after a few days use.

  4. WHEN USING GARLIC, I GET A BOTTLE OF CODLIVER OIL, POUR HALF OUT, THEN FILL UP THE OTHER HALF OF THE BOTTLE WITH CRUSHED GARLIC. THEN GIVE A GOOD SHAKE TO MIX IT, THEN USE ON FOOD WHEN NEEDED, AT THE AMOUNT THAT SUITS ME. THE AMOUNT IN THE BOTTLE WILL LAST FOR AWHILE IF KEPT IN FRIDGE AND KEEP TOPPING BACK UP WITH THE CODLIVER OIL YOU TOOK OUT AT THE BEGINING. THIS WAY ITS ONE LESS THING TO PUT IN WATER, BIRDS TEND TO SHY AWAY FROM WATER IF IT CHANGES FLAVER EVERY DAY, WATER ON TRANSPORTERS IS PLAIN, THAT MUCH STUFF GOES IN THE WATER, THE PIGEON FORGETS WHAT GOOD OLD PLAIN WATER TASTES LIKE, THAT COULD MEAN THEY WILL NOT DRINK PROPERLY WHEN ON THE TRANSPORTER. CODLIVER OIL IS MY CHOICE, BUT ANY OIL WILL DO.

  5. Hi all,
    Garlic-onions-leek & chive all belong to the Liliacea.
    Garlicis full of sulphurous essential oil containing ally!(a monatomic radical) which releases over 70 volatile sulphur derivatives through oxidation. it also contains selenium and iodine.
    Good stuff.

  6. i use garlic all year round.1 or 2 cloves crushed in a gallon of water 2 or 3 times a week.garlic is natures medicine a wonderful blood cleanser and great as a protector against intestinal parasites as they dont like the allisin in the bulb.

  7. To be honest I dont know whether putting a few holes in a clove of garlic is going to help much,especially if you change the water every day as most of us do.The medicinal properties to be gained by using garlic are obtained when the cloves are “crushed”.Allicin is produced by the action of enzymes on a pre-existing chemical known as alliin.The positive effect of fresh juice of fresh cloves is fairly certain where as preparations such as powders,tablets and oils prepared by heat distillation,etc is not very convincing.This is because the active ingredient is fragile and gets broken down when processed.It is the breakdown of alliin to allium that produces the odour and there is a connection between the odour and the level of active constituent.Once garlic has dried it loses many of the properties that make it useful in health.Allicin is known to have antibacterial properties.It can kill about two dozen types of bacteria including Samonella.It also contains the trace elements selenium and germanium which are important in the normal development of the immune system.Garlic has also been shown to have a stimulating effect on certain enzymes that are known to be effective in removing toxic substances from the body.This is where the term “blood purifier”comes from.So we can see there is a lot to be gained from the use of garic.It would be a shame if its benefits were lost because you are using it incorrectly,so I hope some of this info is helpful.
