  1. Reading through many of these comments,it really makes me wonder why so many are so quick to dismiss eyesign as nonsence. Many of you say it hasn’t been proven that it works.Well you could say equally, that it hasn’t been proven that it doesn’t work.In order to achieve success you need a system. That system is that we breed and race the young against many other birds in order that we can compair their performances. But o/k you get a bird that is different to the rest in your loft,in that it wins races,it breeds better young,it carries it’s self differently, surely you as a serious pigeon fancier would use every available tool in order to find out how to reproduce such a bird. The eyes truely are the windows to the sole. Many of you have said that we dont use eye sign in other animals to judge them.Don’t we? Well I don’t know about the rest of you but I can tell when a dog is pissed off just by looking at his eyes.People especially give a lot away just by looking into their eyes.Happiness, sadness, anger, whether someone is lying or telling the truth, there are many things that can be learned by watching the eyes.I’m certainly not suggesting that we only use eyes to pick our birds, but I do think that the intelligent pigeon fancier would use every available tool to do the job right.

  2. some flyers get rid of there birds just on eye sign, if you do this of course the birds with the good sign will do well but you have no idea how the others would have gone because you didn’t give them a go. All birds you breed should be given a go, maybe the results could be more convincing. Maybe eye sign is telling them what they want to here not the facts.

  3. Hi , im a new comer in the sport , and would like to know what exactly do you look for in the eye of the pigeon ???

  4. Science is what we know or what is discovered by man. Now there is a lot more happening in our world that we are unable to find out till yet.

so dont discard everthing that is not proved by Albert Einstein

I actually enjoy the eye sign and try to learn more about it. Dear Chris is there anything else you want to hear? 😀

  5. I have a small book published in 1903 with this same controversy. So in over 100 years nothing scientific has been found one way or the other. The only eye sign that matters is the one you have to read off the wall when you get your eyes checked.

  6. I have been racing pigeons for about 7 years. I have learned how to select my race team by
eye sign / quality and boyancy. Every year I raise 30 young birds, after training I select for
my race team. Normally I’ll end up with around 15 or 20 after training. One week before the
first race I go to the loft to pick my team 2010 YB’s I picked only 5. 3 out of 5 won races
the other two came very close. I don’t mob fly, I just fly what I know!

  7. firstly eye sign is to find weather a pigeon is a breeder or racer.
secondly pigeons obsevation power can been seen through eyes (eg when bird shriks the pupil)
    thirdly the memory

  8. well i no in the old days, dog breeders would look in the mouth. if the dog had a white mouth it was to be a good one. my advice is if it wins a race or trees a coon. then thats is when they say look at that eye or look at that mouth. i say train your birds, race them an hope that hawks dont grab them. just fly and enjoy your birds.
