  1. I think it will be back, from the angle of them raising young with the birds they now have. Then training, racing again, etc. They can really do a “year in the loft” series themselves! Lot’s of people I know who don’t have pigeons but enjoy “animals” in general watched it, & learned! Having Tyson in it drew still more folks! Hope all on the page have a Great Easter!

    1. I agree. I hope people have a better understanding of how we fanciers feel about racing pigeons, different breeds of pigeons as far as that goes. I find it so relaxing. The comraderey of club members is what i like the most. I hope there’s more Taking on “Tyson coming” soon

  2. I’ve watched all the episodes and thought they are very well done! Thanks to Mike for promoting our beloved sport and I hope he will come back later on with a sequel to this suceess!

A lot of people I talked to about pigeons now can grasped fully how pigeon racing is being done. They are amazed how our feathered friends can come back from a distance where most of us humans will get lost! Thanks to Animal Planet for producing such an entertaining and informative series of episodes about pigeon racing.

  3. I agree that this was a very well done documentary and great for our sport as it’s time for pigeons to get plenty of good publicity. I don’t think most people even realize how loyal pigeons are or how many lives were saved during some of the wars because of pigeons bringing messages in. I’ve told many people around here and they were surprised. Sure hope Mike Tyson does some more shows! Loved them!

  4. I enjoyed the series and think it added a tremendous amount of exposure to the racing pigeon sport, but I believe they could have added a little more impact by showing a printout of the race result sheet each race, especially the last one.

  5. I think the series is a great shot in the arm for the sport. A lot of people that know I fly pigeons are asking questions and showing interest. Thanks Mike, Vinnie,Joe and the rest of the group for a good promo for us flyers.

  6. Racing pigeons is a very level playing field, money and influence will not guarantee that you win races. I really enjoyed the videos, Tysons passion for his friends and his pigeons is something everyone wants. To build the sport we need guys like Mike to put on special races to bring everyone together / BBQ

  7. I really enjoyed watching mikes efforts in trying to win a pigeon race i wish to see more of his efforts in the future. I have been flying pigeons for about 40 years and still as keen as ever. Started with them when i was 8 in scotland and now here in australia.
All the best Mike hope u get the win………..Jeff

  8. I thought this was a very well done documentry on Mike Tyson getting into Pigeon Racing and seeing what his birds could do aginist seasoned breeders and racers all over the area that he is from. I feel he accomplished what he sat out to and that the gift of a good foundation bird from Joe Green was a great ending to his season, and a very great show of respect for what mike did for all the clubs in that area.
I also think that this showed many people around the United States a lot about the sport of Pigeon Racing and gave them a great deal of information and also showed how a new loft could come into the sport and with hard work and good habits get braging rights over someone that they knew, starting out with birds that didn’t cost much of anything.
Pigeon Racing as a whole is a great sport and I pray that we can get more and more young people into it, as it creates good habits and teaches a lot of life lessons that can be learned elsewhere but not with the enjoyment that this sport gives.
I myself have only been racing birds again for the lasdt 5yrs but I do White Dove Releases and train my Whites and near whites just as if they were going to be racing in the late summer or early fall, and then they either get sold or go into the breeding loft to replace old breeders, but only after they have proven themselves in the air. I have sent quite a few birds off to one loft races around the country and have been pleased with the results that my birds have had at them.
    God Bless
    Yours in the Sport
    Lee
